Trainers and requirements

Apprentice: level 5. Journeyman (from skill 75): level 10.
Expert (from skill 150): level 20.
Artisan (from skill 225): level 35.
Herbs can only be gathered from a certain skill, the table lists the thresholds.

Every rank can be learned from any trainer: Journeyman from 70, Expert from 150, Master from 285, Grand Master from 350 (Tiger Lily needs 375), Cataclysm herbalism from 425, MoP herbalism from 500 in Pandaria.
Trainers include: Orgrimmar (Jandi), Stormwind (Tannysa), Undercity (Martha Alliestar), Ironforge (Reyna Stonebranch), Shattrath (Botanist Alaenra or Jijia), Dalaran (Dorothy Egan), Valley of the Four Winds (Han Flowerbloom), Jade Forest (Grower Miao for the Horde, Orchard Keeper Li Mei for the Alliance).

MoP Classic route (1-600)

70-150	Mageroyal, Briarthorn, Bruiseweed	Hillsbrad Foothills (Horde), Darkshore (Alliance). Learn Journeyman at 70. Frozen herbs from 125 in the orange circle. The Horde can stay until 150-160.
150-230	Kingsblood, Liferoot, Fadeleaf, Goldthorn (Feralas only), Khadgar’s Whisker (from 160)	Feralas, Western Plaguelands. Learn Expert at 150. For the last 10-20 points all herbs are green. Visit the trainer again between 200 and 225.
230-285	Sungrass	Thousand Needles (recommended) or Eastern Plaguelands. Thousand Needles is straightforward, without a flying mount you have to swim.
285-325	Sungrass, Gromsblood, Golden Sansam, Dreamfoil, Mountain Silversage, Sorrowmoss	Felwood, Swamp of Sorrows. Learn Master at 285. Swamp of Sorrows works up to 350, but Outland gives better sale prices.
325-350	Felweed, Dreaming Glory, Terocone	Terokkar Forest (TBC). Follow the route on the map.
350-400	Tiger Lily (pickable from 375)	Howling Fjord, Borean Tundra, Grizzly Hills (WotLK). Learn Grand Master at 350. Without a flying mount avoid Utgarde Keep. Grizzly Hills has a lot of Tiger Lily, but leveling there up to 375 is tedious.
400-425	Adder’s Tongue (most common), Goldclover, Tiger Lily	Sholazar Basin. Route 1 is the main route, route 2 covers the whole area.
425-475	Cinderbloom	Mount Hyjal (Cataclysm). Learn Cataclysm herbalism at the trainer.
475-500	Heartblossom	Deepholm (alternatively stay in Mount Hyjal up to 500)
500-545	Green Tea Leaf, Rain Poppy	Jade Forest (MoP). Travel to Pandaria at 500 and learn MoP herbalism.
545-575	Silkweed	Valley of the Four Winds. Follow the route and gather all herbs up to 575.
575-600	Snow Lily	Kun-Lai Summit. Enter caves only with a sprint or stealth ability, otherwise only if someone else is farming there.

Beta data. WoW Forever has not been released yet. This route is based on the beta data from wow-professions.com and may change before launch.

Trainers and requirements

Journeyman: Herbalism 50 (not taught by the junior trainers in starter zones). Expert: 125. Artisan: 200, learn it before leaving for Tanaris.
Find Herbs is learned with Herbalism, it must be activated and switches off on death.
Optional bonuses: Goldthorn Tea +15 (Henry Stern, Razorfen Downs, needs Cooking 175), Herbalist’s Gloves +5, Enchant Gloves – Herbalism +2, Advanced Herbalism +5.
