Route from skill 1 to 300 for Classic Era. Expect to use a lot of ore and bars, mining as a second profession pays off.

Trainers and requirements

Apprentice: level 5 at any blacksmithing trainer.
Journeyman (from skill 75): level 10.
Expert (from skill 150): level 20. Horde: Saru Steelfury. Alliance: Bengus Deepforge.
Artisan (from skill 225): level 35. Brikk Keencraft in Booty Bay.
Specialization (optional): skill 200 and level 40, armorsmith or weaponsmith.
The Imperial Plate plans (265-300) come from Derotain Mudsipper in Tanaris, each quest needs 20 to 40 Thorium Bars.

Scryers route: Friendly with The Scryers. Aldor route: Honored with The Aldor. The choice is made with the quest „City of Light“.
Adamantite Weightstone: Honored with the Cenarion Expedition.

Ranks from the trainers of the old capitals: Journeyman level 10, Expert 20, Artisan 35, Master 50, Grand Master 65, Cataclysm 75. MoP blacksmithing is also learned there, no trip to Pandaria needed.
Buy a Blacksmith Hammer at a blacksmithing or trade supply vendor. Green Dye: tailoring or leatherworking supply vendor.
Plans Mithril Spurs: auction house. Lesser Ward of Shielding: Rohok (Hellfire Peninsula, Horde) or Mari Stonehand (Shadowmoon Valley, Alliance). Adamantite Dagger/Cleaver: Aaron Hollman (Shattrath).
Contender’s Armor (575-600): Jorunga Stonehoof (Horde, Shrine of Two Moons) or Cullen Hammerbrow (Alliance, Shrine of Seven Stars), after the quest A Celestial Experience (level 87). Spirit of Harmony = 10 Mote of Harmony.
Darkmoon Faire: profession quests give +5 skill (every two weeks).
